Renovating a home should be an exciting and fulfilling journey, but for one homeowner, it turned into a nightmare. Abandoned by her previous interior designer (ID), who went MIA, she was left with a house barely 30% completed. Delays stretched on for months, leaving her home in complete disarray—debris scattered everywhere, electrical wires dangling dangerously, and plumbing work left incomplete. Shockingly, the basin didn’t even have a discharge outlet pipe, the false ceiling was cut open and left hanging mid-air, and the air-con pelmet was incorrectly sized. To make matters worse, the drawings were outdated, and many critical details had never been properly discussed or documented.

Feeling lost and frustrated, the homeowner—who is also an influencer—reached out to me in desperation. She wasn’t just looking for a reliable interior designer; she needed someone who could help bring her abandoned dream home to life. After much consideration, I decided to take on the challenge. It was clear that this project was going to be far more complex than I initially expected, but once I made a commitment, I was determined to see it through.
Piecing the Puzzle Back Together
From the moment we stepped in, we knew this wasn’t an ordinary renovation. We had to meticulously assess the situation and fix each issue one by one. The homeowner had difficulty remembering all the details discussed with her previous ID, so we had to work closely with her to reconstruct her vision and fill in the missing pieces.
The biggest challenge was optimizing the limited space of her 3-room old HDB flat. To ensure both functionality and aesthetics, we custom-designed all the built-in furniture and maximized storage solutions. Every element was carefully considered, down to the smallest details. Since the homeowner loves gold and white, we went the extra mile to mix and source the perfect shade of gold for her carpentry.
